he graduated omaha high school in 1912. attended phillips academy in andover, massachusetts, in 1914 , graduated in 1918 yale university in new haven, connecticut member of skull , bones , captain of wrestling team. member of psi upsilon , letterman in football @ yale.
in world war i, served captain of battery f, 3 hundred , thirty-eighth field artillery united states. in 1921, graduated university of nebraska–lincoln college of law , admitted bar, setting practice in omaha.

on november 30, 1921, married regina katherine connell @ omaha. born @ omaha, douglas county, nebraska on september 23, 1896, daughter of dr. ralph wardlaw connell , katherine e walsh. 1921 graduate of wellesley college. uncle, william james connell, nebraska republican politician , served member of united states house of representatives nebraska s 1st congressional district. first cousin, dr. karl albert connell, invented gas mask used american troops during world war i.

political career
he served in nebraska state house of representatives in 1923 , delegate 1924 republican national convention , 1928 republican national convention. elected seventy-second united states congress representative second district , served march 4, 1931, march 3, 1933. unsuccessful candidate reelection in 1932.
post political career
afterwards, resumed practice of law. during second world war, entered army on june 10, 1942, , became major in united states army air corps. discharged colonel on october 25, 1945, resuming law practice offices in new york city , washington, d.c. resident of washington, connecticut, until death. died on january 19, 1985, in southbury, connecticut. buried @ forest lawn cemetery in omaha.
