believed have become extinct in 1909, leadbeater s possum (gymnobelideus leadbeateri) rediscovered in australia naturalist eric wilkinson. later in month, first specimen found in more 50 years captured.

country music star spade cooley, nicknamed king of western swing , murdered wife ella mae after admitted having affair. cooley remained in prison until 1969, , died on november 23 of year after performing concert while on furlough.
