Biography Pete McLeod







raised in red lake, small town in northwestern ontario, mcleod grew hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, flying, , playing hockey. took first flight in family plane when 6 weeks old. mcleod’s mother, margaret, recalls when 6 mcleod sit on father dave’s lap during flights, hands on control column. learned fly float , ski planes, undergoing flight training @ harv s air service in steinbach , qualifying private pilot’s licence @ 16. built flying hours on next couple of years, earning commercial licence , float endorsement when 18. mcleod spent summers flying fishermen remote outpost camps.


he earned aerobatic flight instructor rating when 18, , began flying competition aerobatics in pitts special in 2003. undefeated in first full competitive season in 2004, winning multiple awards in class, united states regional series championship, , 2004 north american collegiate aerobatic championship.


after completing economics degree @ university of western ontario, decided @ start of 2006 season join air show circuit , focus energy on professional aerobatics. finished season second place advanced category finish @ united states national aerobatic championships. in 2007 earned unrestricted surface level aerobatic waiver, 1 of youngest pilots in world hold such waiver high performance aerobatics.
