in edinburgh, 2 controlled explosions carried out on lothian buses double-decker on princes street in centre of edinburgh @ around 17:30; neither of objects destroyed contained explosives.
in cardiff, central railway , central bus stations closed after security alert.
in birmingham, 20,000 people evacuated city centre on 9 july while police carried out 4 controlled explosions.
there bomb scares in sheffield city centre on 5 july.
in southampton, main coach station , surrounding area cordened off after suspect package.

in brighton there controlled explosion of suspicious briefcase @ approximately 12:55 in telephone box outside brighton station. briefcase later found harmless, , station re-opened.
in poole, railway station closed in response discovery of suspicious package. package later detonated police in controlled explosion.
at g8 summit in gleneagles, armed police patrolled surrounding villages, , on 1,000 metropolitan police officers re-deployed london.
