the festival of kheturi, presided on jahnava thakurani, wife of nityananda, first time leaders of various branches of chaitanya s followers assembled together. through such festivals, members of loosely organised tradition became acquainted other branches along respective theological , practical nuances. around these times, disciples , descendants of nityananda , advaita acharya, headed virabhadra , krishna mishra respectively, started family lineages (vamsa) maintain tradition. vamsa descending nityananda through son virabhadra forms prominent branch of modern gaudiya tradition, though descendants of advaita, along descendants of many other associates of chaitanya, maintain following in rural areas of bengal. gopala guru goswami, young associate of chaitanya , follower of vakresvara pandit, founded branch based in odisha. writings of gopala, along of disciple dhyanacandra goswami, have had substantial influence on methods of internal worship in tradition.
