the re-match decider played in front of 12,178 people on 4 october @ sydney sports ground , officiated referee lal deane. st. george led 2-0 , competed in first half. western suburbs crack outfit , after saints lost veteran forward, harry flower arm injury, skipped away 16-2 lead. wests ran in 7 tries , crushed st george 27-2 take away first premiership since 1908 foundation admission top grade competition.
