david john graney born on 2 february 1959 , grew in mount gambier, south australia. in 1978, relocated adelaide, and, lead vocalist, teamed drummer, clare moore , form sputniks liz dealey on bass guitar, phillip costello on guitar , steve miller on guitar. sputniks released 1 single, second glance on independent label before moving melbourne in 1979 disbanded. graney, miller , moore formed post-punk group moodists steve carman on bass guitar in 1980. released single trees walk downnhill/i should have been here on au go go label.carman replaced chris walsh (ex-negatives, fabulous marquises) on bass guitar. line-up released single gone dead / chads car , , ep engine shudder on au go go label. in april 1983, mick turner (sick things, fungus brains) joined on guitar , relocated united kingdom in october. released studio album, thirsty s calling in 1984 on red flame label victor van vugt producing.
red flame released album in 1985 called double life . single justice , money released on creation label. chris walsh left in same year, 1985. david mcclymont – ex orange juice- joined on bass , band recorded 2 12 eps take red carpet out of town , someones got give on tim label in uk.
