girls gender equity’s after-school , youth organizing programs provide education, information, , resources necessary ensure safety of youth in schools , communities.
sisters in strength
sisters in strength (sis) youth organizing program fifteen young women of color entering either 10th or 11th grade, , takes place on course of 2 years. gge’s vision, mission, , goals, individual needs , interests of each youth organizer shape sisters in strength’s programming. sis confronts several levels of individual , institutional discrimination threaten safety of girls , women through community organizing.
in civic engagement exercise, sisters in strength youth organizers discussed founding documents shaped united states values. in community other black girls @ black girl movement conference, black girls imagined new world values black girls, world girls , women of color come create world want live in , black girl bill of rights founding document. on april 28, 2016, joanne n. smith, founder , executive director of girls gender equity, presented black girl bill of rights congressional caucus on black women , girls @ first caucus symposium, “barriers , pathways success black women , girls” in member’s room, library of congress, thomas jefferson building.

the coalition gender equity in schools (cges) mission end sexual harassment violence in schools empowering young people speak , fight against negative normalized behavior such offensive comments, lgbt bullying, , unwanted touches. gge lead organizer of alliance of students, teachers, parents, , other school community members passionate changing culture of schools , creating sense of community rooted in mutual respect.
urban leaders academy
urban leaders academy (ula) holistic after-school program dedicated advancing values, ethics, determination, , leadership skills of junior high school students. there 2 schools in brooklyn participate in gge’s urban leaders academy, j.h.s. 78 – roy h. mann middle school , i.s. 14 – shell bank middle school
at each location, ula’s mentors , staff serve many ninety students day goal cater students’ unique needs , provide enrichment programs schools not able offer. gge s youth development model consists of leadership programs, raising consciousness encouraging youth think critically place in society, exploring concept of identity, setting career goals, community organizing social justice, building awareness on importance of nutrition, , practicing physical fitness.
