early on october 3, tropical depression developed in south-central caribbean 100 mi (160 km) east of serrana bank , miskito cays. intensified minimal tropical storm maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (64 km/h), strongest in life span. curving west-northwest without further intensification, weak cyclone made landfall near barra patuca in gracias dios department, honduras, shortly before 12:00 utc on october 4. shortly thereafter, storm gradually turned north of due west, , on october 5, after degenerating tropical depression, made second landfall on belize south of alabama wharf in toledo district. less 12 hours later, cyclone dissipated on eastern guatemala.
