Konbaung dynasty Thathanabaing of Burma

the thathanabaing appointed king , granted supreme authority regard religious doctrine , ecclesiastical administration. thathanapaing responsible kingdom s religious affairs, including appointment of monastery abbots, monk orders according vinaya, management of breaches of discipline, preparation of annual report of order, , administration of pali examinations.


the thathanabaing charged managing functions of 2 government officials, mahadan wun (မဟာဒါန်ဝန်, ecclesiastical censor), oversaw king s charitable functions, ensured monk compliance vinaya, , submitted registers of active novices , monks, , wutmye wun (ဝတ်မြေဝန်), managed wuttukan-designated religious properties (ဝတ္ထုကံမြေ), including donated land , pagodas. burmese kingdom divided ecclesiastical jurisdictions, each of overseen gaing-gyok. underneath each gaing-gyok number of gaing-ok, in turn assisted number of gaing-dauk. ecclesiastical disputes settled gaing-gyok , decisions appeal made sudhamma council.
