Vancouver Island British Columbia Highway 1A








a 17 km (11 mi) long segment of highway in north cowichan , ladysmith designated highway 1a. starts in south @ intersection of highway 1 , mount sicker road, highway follows mount sicker road , chemainus road east 2.3 km (1.4 mi) intersection crofton road, provides access community of crofton. chemainus road , highway 1a turns northwest, , goes 15 km (9.3 mi) through chemainus intersection roland lane, subsequently turns west meet trans-canada highway on south end of ladysmith. route original island highway prior opening of existing trans-canada highway, constructed bypass chemainus area in 1950.

a 16 km (10 mi) long segment of highway in area of victoria designated highway 1a. started in victoria @ intersection of hillside avenue , government street, following gorge road west 5 km (3 mi) until reached intersection @ admirals road, across craigflower bridge esquimalt. highway 1a proceeded west along old island highway 5 km (3 mi) junction highway 14 @ goldstream avenue. highway 1a turned onto goldstream avenue , proceeded west 6 km (4 mi) termination @ highway 1 short of goldstream provincial park. route original island highway prior opening of existing trans-canada highway route in 1955 , 1956.
