on december 3, 1898, 2 players greensburg athletic association joined latrobe athletic association form first professional football all-star team game against duquesne country , athletic club, played @ pittsburgh s exposition park. duquesne went on win game 16-0.


aside fiscus, greensburg athletic association included several of era s top players, such as: charlie atherton, george barclay, ross fiscus, jack gass, arthur mcfarland, charles rinehart, isaac seneca , adam martin wyant. several of these players revolutionized game during playing careers. charlie atherton credited inventing place kick, , george barclay invented first-ever football helmet. meanwhile, isaac seneca became first native-american earn all-american honors , adam wyant made history becoming first professional football player elected united states congress.
